So I finally managed to put the master compressor of the Digitakt to good use. All sounds were created by using the stock samples, the melodic parts are a looped single cycle waveform with modulation of the sample start point to create a pulse width modulated type of sound, the kick is a combination of low tuned bassdrum sample and hefty high pass filter resonance in the bass range, and I tried to mix things to give the kick as much air as possible without overshadowing the melodic parts too much. Considering I stayed away from serious music production for some years now, I think this is a pretty good start.
